I was born in Elkins West Virginia as one of 5 kids. We had cows, horses, chickens, and grew corn. We had accents so thick our own grandparents couldn’t understand us. Those accents were quickly lost as a means of survival when we moved to Albany, NY. That’s where I got into radio straight out of high school. I worked at many formats including Adult Contemporary, Country, Oldies, News Talk and Music of Your Life (think big band and Frank Sinatra) and that was all before age 21! Oldies are my favorite which is why I LOVE being part of Retro Radio!
I’ve lived and DJ’d in Oklahoma City (a big Hey to KOMA Country), Jacksonville Florida, Pittsburgh, Atlanta (met JJ Jackson at Fox 97), Raleigh NC, Richmond VA. When my family moved to DC I got a grown up job as a high school and middle school math teacher and loved having a captive audience. Teaching was a dream job (until it wasn’t) but I missed radio.
Now I am back in Florida and loving the ocean in my front yard. Better still, JJ Jackson showed me Retro Radio and they let me join the team. Go figure.
