Why Jelly Roll Missed the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards

Why Jelly Roll Missed the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards

Jelly Roll was a breakout star at the 2023 People’s Choice Country Awards, but he was nowhere to be found on Thursday night (Sept. 26).

The “I Am Not Okay” singer was referenced by MGK during his acceptance speech for Crossover Song of 2024. Overall, he was nominated in seven PCCA categories. So, what happened?

  • The 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards aired Sept. 26 at 8PM ET on NBC and Peacock.
  • Shania Twain hosted this year.
  • Zach Bryan, Kacey Musgraves and Shaboozey were among the most-nominated artists.

The reason Jelly Roll wasn’t at the PCCAs is pretty simple: He was working!

Last month, his Beautifully Broken Tour kicked off, and on Thursday he’s playing TD Garden in Boston. He’ll follow that show with dates in New York and New Jersey.

Country fans will have more opportunities to see Jelly Roll on TV soon, however: He’s nominated in several categories at the 2024 CMA Awards and got a chance to act for the first time when Tulsa King asked him to play himself in an episode.

Kane Brown, Miranda Lambert, War and Treaty and Kelsea Ballerini were among the highlight performances from Thursday night. The 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards aired on NBC.
