What This Man Did at a Youth Basketball Game Sent Him to Prison

If you think that professional sports have some intense fans, wait until you hear about the parents/fans at youth sports.

Unfortunately for the kiddos, the intense parents can tend to get out of control a little easier due to the fact that they’re rooting on their own child, not some random athlete.

What This Man Did at a Youth Basketball Game Got Him Eight Years in Federal Prison

For this intense and wild story, we head to Maryland, where a man was upset that his child wasn’t getting as much playing time as he felt he deserved.

Instead of having a mature one-on-one adult conversation about it, the man took the low road and went about it incorrectly.

A 50 year-old man named Troy Spencer caused a chaotic scene in the gym of Leith Walk Elementary Middle School.

Spencer was so upset that he walked over to the coach and pulled a gun out and pointed it in his face, demanding his son get more playing time.

According to the Baltimore Sun, the gun — which one of the coaches turned over to the police — was loaded with seven rounds of 9mm ammunition, prosecutors wrote in court papers.

Spencer’s son was in fifth grade at the time of the incident in 2023. As the case hit the court system last week, the judge had some fierce words for Spencer in the courtroom.

U.S. District Judge Julie R. Rubin said, “The fact that you would go to your boy’s elementary school with a loaded semi-automatic weapon is just terrifying.”

That it is, with all of the school shootings we have had and continue to have here in America, to know that now we must worry about player’s parents at sports games, and loaded weapons being present, is causing quite the concern among Americans.
