Curb Records band We Are Messengers unveils a tear-inducing ode to daughters on “Losing You,” available now — listen here.
Dedicated to Irish-born frontman Darren Mulligan’s daughter, the sentimental ballad mourns the passing of time, while simultaneously acknowledging that loving someone also looks like letting go. Capturing the deep affection of a father, “Losing You” draws from real life and genuine emotion as the dad of four watches his children — particularly his little girl — grow up faster than he’d prefer. “Losing You” was written by Mulligan and Dan Muckala, who also produced the poignant selection.
“Every father of a daughter knows, there is a special joy and pride in watching them grow into who God created them to be. However, with every new step that they’re able to take on their own, there’s also a paradox of sadness that they are not as reliant on you as they once were,” shares Mulligan. “This year I wanted to surprise my daughter, Emmanuelle, on her birthday and let her, and the whole world, know that her father loves her dearly and no matter how ‘grown up’ she becomes my love for her will only increase.”
Today’s release follows the Gold-certified outfit’s expansion of their fourth studio effort across Where The Joy Is (Deluxe). Comprised of 19 tracks, the collection includes the band’s current Top 10 radio single, “A Thousand Times.” Following a 27-date spring run in support of the project, We Are Messengers keeps the momentum going with a full slate of festival and fair appearances this summer, as well as select headlining dates in cities across the country. The collective is slated to provide direct support for TobyMac tomorrow night, Aug. 9, at the historic Beacon Theatre as part of the two-night K-LOVE Live in New York event.
