We Are Messengers Honors Irish Tradition with New Holiday Project
Curb Records collective We Are Messengers honors a timeless Irish tradition with the release of their first full-length holiday project, Rejoice! (A Celtic Christmas), available now — listen here.
The 10-track album expands on 2024’s five-song set of the same name. While “Thorn and Thistle (with Keith & Kristyn Getty)” remains the project’s sole original, fans will delight in We Are Messengers’ fresh arrangements of festive hymns and long-forgotten carols that immediately recall cozy, joyful Christmases spent in frontman Darren Mulligan’s native Ireland. The group heralds the season alongside some of the Emerald Isle’s best musicians, who bring the centuries-old Celtic instrumentation to life with bagpipe, penny whistle, harp, flute, concertina, fiddle and more.
“We wanted to do something that reminded us of the beautiful, rich cultural heritage that we have here in Ireland, so we recorded a traditional Irish record just for you,” shares Mulligan. “I hope you love the record. Cheers!”
All of the album’s accompanying visual content was shot at Mullaghfad Church. Nestled in a remote forest, the historic structure, which dates back to the 1800s, resides in the picturesque countryside of Northern Ireland’s County Fermanagh.
In support of the seasonal LP, We Are Messengers is scheduled to embark on their headlining A Celtic Christmas Tour, which will showcase the signature musical traditions of their homeland in eight cities this December. With multiple dates already sold out, all remaining tickets are available here.
Ahead of their festive winter outing, the chart-topping group is currently on the road with hitmakers Skillet and Jeremy Camp on The Awakening Tour through November 23.
We Are Messengers’ holiday release arrives on the heels of several deeply personal originals co-penned by Mulligan: the sentimental “Losing You,” written for his daughter; and the vulnerable “Somewhere In Her Dreams,” written for his wife.
