Watch Miranda Lambert Perform ‘Wranglers’ at 2024 ACM Awards

The Texas vocalist recently debuted the track at Stagecoach alongside ACMs host Reba McEntire

At the ACM Awards on Thursday, Miranda Lambert performed her recently released single, “Wranglers.” She had previously given the tune its debut at the Stagecoach Festival, where she also performed with frequent ACMs host Reba McEntire, in April.

Lambert’s live debut of the track was appropriately fiery, as the cowboy-hat-clad star belted out the slow burn of a track on the ACM stage. Her latest revenge anthem was released earlier this month, her first new single in two years.

Lambert has described “Wranglers” as song about a woman reclaiming power. “I think we can all identify with the character in this song, because we have all had a time in our life where we needed to find our strength, and also get a little revenge on someone who did us wrong or hurt us,” she said in a statement when she released the tune. “This offers such a cool, raging take on how something like this unravels; I think the songwriters nailed it.” The song was written by Evan McKeever, Ryan Carpenter, and Audra Mae, the last of whom sang on the studio recording.

She also compared the tune to her song “Gunpowder & Lead,” saying it shares a kinship to the sentiment of the 2007 single. “‘Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned’ is a pretty powerful statement,” she said, “and the way it’s written, you can tell, we’re not kidding.”

Lambert has hinted that she’ll release her 10th full-length later this year. She even described some of the music she’d been working on as “rowdy” and told people to “get ready.” “We wanted to come with something that really says something from the start,” she said. “And there’s a whole lot of feelings and rhythms and great playing to come.”

Other performers at the ACMs include Lainey Wilson, Jelly Roll, and Chris Stapleton. McEntire, who also performed, hosted the trophy toss for a record 17th time.
