Tyler Childers Shares ‘Song While You’re Away’ From ‘Twisters’

Tyler Childers is the latest artist to share a single from the forthcoming Twisters soundtrack, which features more than two dozen country acts. In line with the theme of the film, out July 19, the musician finds himself being blown down memory lane on the nostalgic release “Song While You’re Away.”

“Up in your nephew’s room, playing on his cousin’s guitar/I wrote a song for you,” Childers sings on the song’s opening verse. “You have done drove off with everything I need/My box and my tumbleweed/I picked it up on the way to Flagstaff years ago/I was hanging on to everything you had the grace to show.”

On the record, Childers thinks back to the moment he first encountered a girl he’d crossed paths with by chance, not knowing he’d later be penning a verse about watching her walk down the aisle. “I was young, and I was hungry/Lord knows you were hungry too/We were both flat-out starving/For something worthwhile to lose,” he sings, closing the song. “You were my bread and I was your honey/Up against the dark red wine/Trying to hold on to the lovely/Through the bitter of our times.”

“Song While You’re Away” follows the release of a handful of Twister soundtrack singles. Last week, Lainey Wilson shared “Out of Oklahoma,” which followed songs from Luke Combs, Megan Moroney, and Bailey Zimmerman.
