The Kelce brothers are more than willing to tackle any subject on their podcast, and when it comes to country music, they didn’t hold back.
On the latest episode of New Heights, the Kelce brothers podcast, the topic of current country music came up and Jason Kelce, newly retired from the Philadelphia Eagles, blasted current country music.
“If I have to hear one more country song that’s like ‘I got my boots in my truck going through the fields.’ Like, what the f— are we talking about?” Jason says. “That’s not country music. That’s not country music. Put on some f——- Willie Nelson. I am tired of what country music has become. It’s horse—-.”
Travis Kelce, currently dating Taylor Swift, wasn’t as quick to jump in on the criticism of the genre. In fact, he asked Jason if he had heard Shaboozey and his music, claiming that he would like that. Unfortunately, Jason claims that he wasn’t familiar with it and would need to hear it before giving his thoughts. You can hear and watch the entire clip here, with the music discussion starting around the 1:17:00 mark (Warning: strong language).
It wasn’t all hate for country music, though. Obviously Jason loves some Willie Nelson and the brothers agreed that Chris Stapleton was a “super performer” and that there were some other acts that were good.
Too bad no one asked Travis whether or not he enjoyed Taylor’s earlier work in the country music world, but I think we can all guess that he would have given it high marks.
