Thomas Rhett has just released his About a Woman album that is about, well, a woman.

Specifically, his new album is all about his life, Lauren Akins, who was his childhood crush before becoming his girlfriend and then his bride.

She’s been by his side through his whole career — a career that has seen its ups and downs, and a few regrets on Rhett’s part.

Rhett stopped by Taste of Country Nights to chat about his new album (Aug. 23, Valory Music Co.), and host Evan Paul reminded him that he’s been a staple in the genre for a dozen years now.

Now 34 years old, Rhett is obviously incredibly proud of his career — a career that has produced seven studio albums to date, which have housed countless hits and earned him big time recognition at awards shows.

However, there are things he wishes he could change — like the one thing Rhett says he’s ashamed he used to do every day.

“Umm, wear as tight of jeans as I used to,” the “Beautiful as You” singer says of what he regrets. “I don’t know if it was turning 30, man, but I need some room, you know what I’m saying.”

A father of four little girls, Rhett says his life is much better now … now that he doesn’t wear tight jeans.

“I feel so much more free,” he admits. “It’s so much easier to squat down and shake hands — all that kinda stuff. I look back at photos of myself back then and I’m just like, ‘How in the world did I fit in jeans like that?'”

Rhett’s new album, About a Woman is out now on all platforms. Look for him on the road promoting his new music.
