Commemorating more than two decades of proclaiming the hope of Jesus through song, The Rock Music–the genre-spanning worship collective of Salt Lake City-based congregation The Rock Church–presents Captured By Grace (20 Year Deluxe Edition),October 3. Produced by Jordan Clark and Joel Pack, the milestone recording features newly reimagined renditions of 13 tracks from The Rock Music’s 2005 watershed set, Captured By Grace.
Now available on streaming platforms and currently spotlighted on Apple Music’s New in Christian playlist, the project’s title cut–a driving anthem celebrating God’s transforming love and mercy with lead vocals from The Rock Music founder Steele Croswhite–charts a powerful, anticipatory course for Captured By Grace (20 Year Deluxe Edition).
Additional album highlights include the ethereal worship track “Beautiful,” showcasing Kim Croswhite; the Caleb & Kelsea Yetton-led “Along You Came,” a reflective song of thanksgiving; and the convicting “No Compromise,” a rock ballad spotlighting worship leader Brady Burt. The Rock Music also offers an impassioned take on the timeless hymn “How Great Thou Art,” led by Jesse Harter and featuring the Salt Lake City Mass Choir.
With 12 of the album’s 13 tracks penned or co-penned by Steele Croswhite, Captured By Grace (20 Year Deluxe Edition) marks a full-circle moment for the former rock band frontman-turned-pastor and worship leader who experienced the radical restoration of his faith at The Rock Church following years of prodigal living.
“By 2005, The Rock Church had become a thriving alternative to traditional church services in Salt Lake City,” Croswhite recalls. “Street kids, wanderers, and other young adults hungry for the Savior, but not for religion, came flooding through the doors and stepped into salvation with the biblical Jesus. It was amazing! Supernatural. Miraculous, even. And it was from this backdrop that Captured By Grace was penned.”
“As someone who had long hungered and finally been satisfied, I had so much to write about; so much melody in my heart; so much to rock out loud for,” he adds. “I sensed the Lord calling me to write an album for this little local church where Jesus was moving so powerfully–a record that would serve as an altar to mark a moment in history.”
“I believe these new recordings sound better–more passionate, more diverse, and more expressive–than those first melodies recorded in a makeshift garage studio,” Croswhite says of Captured By Grace (20 Year Deluxe Edition). “But most importantly, they remain true to the story of God’s transforming grace in my life.”
