The Red Clay Strays Tell Apple Music About Their Viral Hit “Wondering Why”
BRANDON: We couldn’t have even told you that “Wondering Why” would’ve had the success that it had. You know what I mean? I don’t really care to put labels on things as far as calling it a viral moment or whatever, maybe it was, but I try not to focus on that kind of stuff. We’re going to make our music and keep doing what we’re doing, and if people like it, then cool, and if people don’t like it, that’s cool too.

BRANDON: At the end of the day, we make our music the way we want to. And Dave didn’t like everything we showed him, but I still intend on recording that other stuff one day. But yeah, there was a nervousness like, “God, I hope he likes us.” You know what I mean?
ANDY: And he also, we pulled some out from five, six years ago that he fell in love with.

ANDY: But Dave’s got that, he can pull that magic out of us, I guess. It’s like we knew what was in there, we just didn’t know how to get it out. And he was kind of able to help us find that… There’s a reason he has so many Grammys.
The Red Clay Strays Tell Apple Music Why They Began Their Album, ‘Made By These Moments,’ with “Disaster”
BRANDON: Mainly because, one, I really like the intro of “Disaster.” It just sounds really cool… But as far as the album, it is about going into these bad places we all go to and usually disaster strikes that cause that to happen.
