Taylor Swift’s Kamala Harris Endorsement Inspires Voter Frenzy

Taylor Swift appears to be making a major impact on the 2024 presidential race.

Hundreds of thousands of people visited vote.gov from a link Swift included alongside her statement endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday night (Sept. 10), seeking information on how to register to vote in the upcoming election.

Swift turned to social media just minutes after Harris and former president Donald Trump left the debate stage in Philadelphia on Tuesday night, giving Harris’ campaign an additional shot in the arm after a fiery debate in which the majority of polls and media pundits indicate she beat Trump quite handily.

Pointing out that Trump had previously shared AI-altered images that suggested Swift had endorsed him, the singer clarified, “I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.”

Swift is holding a cat in the photo accompanying her post, and she signed her missive, “Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady” in a swipe at Trump’s running mate, J.D. Vance, who has repeatedly demeaned single women and women without children as being second-class in various interviews.

A spokesperson for the U.S. Government Services Administration tells the Hollywood Reporter that Swift’s endorsement resulted in a massive surge to vote.gov in less than 24 hours after the debate.

“As of 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 11, there have been 337,826 visitors to vote.gov referred from the custom URL created and shared by Ms. Swift,” the spokesperson states.

Vote.gov provides resources to register to vote, update your voter registration, learn your voting rights and answer common questions about various voting requirements across all 50 states.

Trump commented on Swift’s Harris endorsement in an interview with Fox & Friends on Wednesday (Sept. 11), saying she “seems to always endorse a Democrat, and she’ll probably pay a price for it at the — in the marketplace.”

Most Politically Outspoken Artists in Country Music

Not every country singer chooses to keep politics and music separate. Some of country music’s biggest stars use both their music and their public platforms to promote the sociopolitical agendas they believe in — and in some cases, attack those who disagree.
