Projects You Forgot These ‘Yellowstone’ Actors Were In

While the world waits to see what lies ahead for the Dutton family in the final episodes of Yellowstone, we’re looking back at some of the roles our favorite cast members had before the show.

In addition to his impeccable writing, Taylor Sheridan assembled a stellar cast to help carry out the storyline he expertly crafted for the series. Of course, the world is familiar with the work of Kevin Costner, who played the lead role of John Dutton. The Academy Award winner was certainly a big draw for an audience not familiar with Sheridan’s work.

While Costner was the gateway to the series for many, the supporting cast has catapulted the show into what has become the Yellowstone universe. Without characters like Beth Dutton (Kelly Reilly), Rip Wheeler (Cole Hauser), Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) and others, the show could have very well been a one-and-done.

Now Yellowstone has birthed two prequels — 1883 and 1923 — with reports of a new sequel, The Madison, that is currently in the works. And that’s just the tip of the Sheridan iceberg.

When Does Yellowstone Return?

The final episodes of Yellowstone are set to air this fall. After an abrupt pause following the first half of Season 5 — due to a writers strike and some drama behind the scenes with scheduling — the show is scheduled to return on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 8PM ET on Paramount.

The cast is currently in Montana filming the last of the series, with some scenes being shot in Texas with Lainey Wilson.

Jess hosts the syndicated radio show, Taste of Country Weekend, which can be heard on country stations nationwide. Tune in for all of the best new country music, spotlights on new tracks and emerging artists, plus Double-Downs on all of your favorites. The weekend is always better with a little Taste of Country in it.

Yellowstone has swept the nation with its western themes and constant drama. What has really sold the show — aside from Taylor Sheridan’s brilliant writing and directing — is the cast he assembled.

But don’t think for a second these men and women didn’t have a stacked resume before taking on their respective roles in the Dutton saga. Several were in some pretty big films or television shows before they ever set foot on the Yellowstone Dutton ranch.
