Are the days of rock stars trashing hotels, throwing parties and hanging backstage with their most overzealous fans a thing of the past?
If you ask one of the most successful country bands there is, Old Dominion, that question, the answer might not be what you thought.
Old Dominion Only Require One Thing Backstage at Every Show
I recently sat down with Matt, Brad, Trevor and Geoff from Grammy Award-winning country group on Taste of Country Nights With Evan Paul, and I asked them what they require backstage at every show.
What they told me was not what I expected to hear from them, at all.
Matthew Ramsey, lead singer, started off by saying,
Really, the only thing that I’ve ever added (to the rider), we added fresh flowers. We want fresh flowers in the dressing room.
Trevor Rosen, the band’s guitarist and keyboardist, keyed in with, “Fresh flowers, the rock star stuff.” To which Ramsey said, “Very Old Dominion. No cocaine, just flowers.”
Ramsey referring to the classic rock star era of the ’80s and ’90s, when surely the backstage riders got a little out of hand.
Old Dominion are dropping a brand-new song to country radio, called “Coming Home,” on Friday (June 28). It is the first track from a forthcoming album from the “Snapback” singers.
Their last record, Memory Lane, dropped less than a year ago, but they are already ready to roll out new music.
Ramsey tells ABC Audio, “Yeah, that’s the way it goes these days, right? We’re putting out a song. But we are working on more music, but we do have a brand-new song coming just in a couple weeks. So very excited. It’s the best song we’ve ever done.”
A look at Old Dominion’s tour calendar shows that they continue to have sold-out shows on their tour, which is slated to run through the end of the year.
Evan Paul is the host of Taste of Country Nights, a syndicated radio show heard on more than 130 country radio stations nationwide, every night from 7PM to midnight.
