This past weekend, Molly Tuttle—yes, the Grammy-winning, genre-bending, guitar-slaying powerhouse—hit CBS Saturday Morning with her band to showcase the first tastes of her upcoming album, So Long Little Miss Sunshine. She lit up the stage with her single “That’s Gonna Leave a Mark,” then followed it with fan-favorite “San Joaquin” from City of Gold.

Tuttle lit up the CBS stage this past weekend with a live performance of her breakout single “That’s Gonna Leave a Mark”—currently sitting at #2 on the Americana Radio chart and rising on AAA Radio. She also revisited fan-favorite “San Joaquin” from her critically acclaimed 2023 album City of Gold.

But it wasn’t just about the music. She sat down with CBS’s Anthony Mason for a raw, heartfelt interview about the stories behind her new songs, the album’s bold visual aesthetic, and her personal journey with alopecia areata—a journey that includes shedding not just wigs, but expectations.
“I’ve been wanting to make this record for such a long time,” she told CBS. “Part of me was scared to do such a big departure… and that went into the album title.” Eventually she let that fear go. “You know what? I’m just not going to care what people think. I’m going to do what I want.”
So Long Little Miss Sunshine drops August 15 via Nonesuch Records, and it’s already shaping up to be Molly’s most daring project yet. Produced by Jay Joyce (the sonic wizard behind records by Orville Peck, Miranda Lambert, and Lainey Wilson), this album veers sharply away from the bluegrass blueprint she’s mastered and leans into a ’90s-country-meets-soft-pop vibe that’s got the critics buzzing.
NPR’s Ann Powers is already calling the lead single “Muna-esque.” Holler says it sounds “more like Haim or Kacey Musgraves.” And with “That’s Gonna Leave a Mark” now sitting at #2 on the Americana Radio chart (her highest ever) and cracking into AAA radio for the first time, it’s clear fans are feeling the shift.
And she’s not stopping there. Tuttle hits the road this fall with The Highway Knows tour, kicking off September 10 and running through December. That includes major stops like Brooklyn Steel in New York and The Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles. You can snag your tickets now and get those road trip playlists ready.
Molly Tuttle might be waving goodbye to “Little Miss Sunshine,” but trust me—what she’s got coming next is about to light the whole sky up.
