Luke Combs is Making Plans to Help Hurricane Victims

Luke Combs is taking action to help those affected by Hurricane Helene’s devastating storms and flooding across the U.S. southeast.

The country star shared a statement on social media on Saturday (Sept. 28), including a special message of support for storm victims in his home state. “Absolutely heartbroken for everyone impacted by Hurricane Helene. Especially my folks in Western North Carolina,” he wrote.

In addition to sending prayers and well-wishes, Combs is taking action to help those struggling as they face the aftermath of the storms. He says he’s currently putting together a plan to provide relief for impacted areas.

“Me and my team have been making some calls and I think we’ve got something really special lined up to help the Carolinas as much as we can,” the singer continued. “More details to come ASAP.”

What to Know About Hurricane Helene

According to CNN, Hurricane Helene made landfall last Thursday (Sept. 26) when it impacted Florida’s Big Bend region, becoming the strongest hurricane on record to do so.

  • At least 62 people have been reported dead across five states: South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia.
  • Amid widespread flooding and power outages, dozens of people remain unaccounted for, and over 200 people have been rescued from flooding in North Carolina.
  • Home loss, injury and rescue numbers are continuing to mount into Sunday (Sept. 29.)
  • As of Sunday morning), over 2.6 million people in the southeast remain without power, according to PowerOutage.us. Power outage and flooding issues have extended into Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee.
  • According to data compiled by AP News, property damage is expected to hit $15-$26 billion, and preliminary estimates of economic loss are between $95 and $110 billion.

Other country stars close to the affected regions have been speaking out about the storm devastation. Eric Church issued a statement postponing his SiriusXM Outsiders Radio show live event planned for Monday (Sept. 30) as he focuses on finding ways to help hurricane victims.

“I’m devastated by the destruction in the mountains of western North Carolina. These are our family members, friends and neighbors. The community we live in part of the year still has people stranded and desperate for extraction,” Church wrote. “The whole area is in dire need of help.”

He added, “Anyone who knows anything about me knows what North Carolina and specifically this area in the mountains means to me personally as well as creatively.”

Church said he and his team are still “gauging” the storms and the best ways to help, but he did share a link to the Red Cross to encourage fans to donate to relief efforts.

Luke Bryan also sent a message of support to those impacted by the storms, as he canceled an Ohio stop on his 2024 Farm Tour due to weather issues from the Hurricane Helene storm system.
