When the news broke that Katy Perry was leaving American Idol, we spoke with her fellow judge Luke Bryan on her departure, and he seemed like he had known it was coming.
At that time, we didn’t know who was going to replace Perry.
Fast forward to now, and we know that Carrie Underwood is going to be the new judge on American Idol. With this new information, we had another swing at talking Idol with Bryan, and he revealed some things that we didn’ know about his relationship with Underwood.
Are Luke Bryan and Carrie Underwood Friends?
One would assume that two major A-list country stars who have both been in the game about equal time would already be great friends.
As the two Season 23 Idol judges get ready to start filming, there is something Bryan revealed to us that might make the show a little more interesting.
Bryan was a guest on Taste of Country Nights and host Evan Paul asked him how close the two are. This is where we learn something new about the two country stars.
The “Love You, Miss You, Mean It” singer said, “Carrie and I, aside from just saying hey and doing a couple of songs together on stage, we’ve never really got to hang out and visit in-depth.”
Bryan admits that he hangs with her husband, Mike, more than he has ever hung out with Underwood.
This isn’t the first major country superstar to say they hang out with Underwood’s husband more than they hang out with the superstar herself. Jason Aldean told us that in a recent interview as well.
Bryan finished the talk by letting us in on a little behind-the-scenes secret of Idol. He said that the three judges will be going to dinner together in a couple of weeks to talk and familiarize themselves with each other.
