Lisa Marie Presley Housed Dead Son’s Body for Two Months

Lisa Marie Presley says she took her time deciding where to bury son Benjamin Keough. For two months, she stored the body in a 55-degree room inside her home in California.

Daughter Riley admits the circumstances were grim and dark. She also describes a time when her mother showed the body to a tattoo artist so he could duplicate a tattoo.

“I’ve had an extremely absurd life, but this moment is in the top five,” Riley says (per Page Six).

  • Benjamin Keough died by suicide in July 2020.
  • Lisa Marie Presley died from complications of weight loss surgery in January 2023.
  • All quotes and passages come from Presley’s new memoir, From Here to the Great Unknown, finished by Riley Keough.

In the book, Presley writes that she was able to keep her son’s body because there is no law in California that says you have to bury a body immediately. She couldn’t decide whether her son should rest in Hawaii or at Graceland, so she kept him in a casitas bedroom near the main home.

At one point, Riley and Lisa Marie decided to get tattoos that matched his tattoos: Riley’s name on his collarbone and Lisa’s name on his hand. The tattoo artist asked for photos, and Presley said she could do better.

Riley says that after they showed the artist the body and tattoos, they got vibes that Benjamin wanted to be laid to rest.

“Even my mom said that she could feel him talking to her, saying ‘This is insane, Mom, what are you doing? What the f–-k!'” Riley writes.

Benjamin would eventually be laid to rest at Graceland, alongside Lisa Marie’s father, Elvis Presley.

From here to the Great Unknown seems to be filled with jaw-dropping details of celebrity life. For example, People shares that the book includes a revelation that Michael Jackson was still a virgin when — at age 35 — he met and married Lisa Marie in 1994. They separated two years later.
