Lauren Alaina‘s father has died. The singer shared that J.J. Suddeth died on Tuesday night (July 23). “I really don’t have the words yet,” she adds.
The 29-year-old shared the news at 10:30AM CT on Wednesday. No details about his death were made available and it’s not clear if he was battling any kind of illness at the time. She’s been open about his struggles in the past.
In 2018, she shared her stepfather’s cancer battle with fans. Sam Ranker died on Oct. 21.
Alaina had just paid tribute to Suddeth on Father’s day with an Instagram post that featured pictures from her wedding day:
“We lost my daddy last night, and I really don’t have words yet,” she writes on Instagram before announcing she won’t be able to play three shows scheduled for the weekend. “I am going home to be with family.
