Lainey Wilson‘s signature clothing item — her bell bottom pants — did her dirty during a performance at Faster Horses Festival in Brooklyn, Mich., on Saturday night (July 20).

While the singer was onstage delivering her first-ever Faster Horses set, she suffered a wardrobe malfunction: Her pants split right down the seams. Fortunately, Wilson’s team spotted the issue and pulled her offstage to change before the fans got a more revealing concert experience than they bargained for.

“Y’all almost got, like, a real show. A real show,” Wilson joked with the crowd once she reemerged in a fresh pair of bell bottoms. “There’s a first show for everything, and I’m glad it was y’all I split my pants wide open in front of.”

The “Hang Tight Honey” star handled the situation with grace and humor, admitting to the crowd that shuffling into the new pair of pants in a hurry was quite the workout.

“I tell you what, trying to put on some jeans when you’re sweating, it ain’t fun. You gotta jump in them things,” Wilson said with a laugh.

Wilson’s bell bottoms — and the derrière that they contain — have been the subject of much fan chatter in the past couple of years. Early last year, a live video performance filmed from a side-rear angle went viral after fans were impressed by Wilson’s generous, ahem, assets.

The singer handled that situation with humor, too, and used it to promote her then-freshly released Bell Bottom Country album.

“I can’t even scroll TikTok on my For You page without seeing my fat butt on everything,” she quipped at the time in a video uploaded to social media. “Whatever brings the people in! But I’m just letting y’all know, go check out my record Bell Bottom Country. Happy to have you either way. However you found me, I’m happy. Happy you’re here.”

“Y’all see what I did with Bell Bottom Country? See what I did? We didn’t even plan that, but you know what, the Lord has a way of working things out,” she continued drily.

Wilson kept the jokes rolling after her Faster Horses performance, sharing a TikTok video of herself doing a dance that tests her pant seams the best way she knows how.

“Adding this into my routine before a show so my britches don’t rip like they did last night at Faster Horses,” she said.
