Ballerini stirred more anticipation for her forthcoming chapter in her career when she invited social media users to ask her anything on her Instagram story on Tuesday morning (August 6). The Q&A arrives hours after Ballerini shared a selfie as she embraced the “last little bit of calm before the beautiful, fun, magical chaos,” she wrote with a few heart emojis. One Instagram user asked on Tuesday morning, “when does the chaos begin?” Ballerini confirmed: “tomorrow.”
The award-winning singer-songwriter said she’s been hinting at her next single for months. Ballerini recently said on TikTok that the title of the song is “something that I have worked into every interview, every conversation, every Instagram ‘ask me anything’ for a while now. I’ve really just been sprinkling this title everywhere available to me of this hypothetical song. Any guesses?” The post garnered thousands of comments from TikTokers gushing over the Taylor Swift-style “Easter eggs,” and writing some of their guesses. Ballerini confirmed in a comment on that video the following day: “a few of you sleuthed correctly.”
Ballerini’s next single will follow “Cowboys Cry Too,” a duet she released with Noah Kahan earlier this summer. Ballerini has shared other hints about her next album in recent months, and as far back as November 2023, when she debuted her unreleased ballad “To The Men That Love Women After Heartbreak” on the historic Grand Ole Opry stage. Previously, when an Instagram user asked whether the album might arrive before or after the singer’s September 12 birthday, Ballerini responded with constellations that represent Libra and Scopio signs, seemingly indicating the release date wil fall between September 23 and November 21.
Earlier this summer, Ballerini delivered an intimate performance and a Q&A hosted by her mom, Carla, on a rooftop in Downtown Nashville, Tennessee. Carla said at that time that there are “some incredible love songs” on the new album, which follows Ballerini’s latest full-length project, Subject To Change, and her surprise EP and short film, Rolling Up The Welcome Mat. Ballerini said of her forthcoming record during her rooftop performance that she’s “never handled anything with so much care in my life.”
