It’s not a huge surprise that Kelly Clarkson‘s two young kids might have inherited some of her vocal talents, but even so, her eight-year-old son’s incredible rendition of Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” is pretty mind-blowing.

The singer brought her children to a recent taping of her talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, but she says it was entirely son’s idea to hop up onstage and start singing. It’s clear that little Remington Alexander — who goes by Remy — has the show biz bug.

“He just walked right in today…and said, ‘Who do I need to speak to to sing my song?'” Clarkson recounts to the audience. “I said, ‘Okay, sir!’ They’re so fun. I love my kids so much.”

Clarkson shared video of the sweet moment, which took place before taping started, with the audience and viewers at home.

The singer’s full band backed Remy as he sang, but it was the young boy’s stage presence and emotional delivery that were truly the stars of the show. Remy’s version of “My Way” is a faithful, pitch-perfect take on Sinatra’s classic, and the audience cheered their approval as he sang the iconic chorus.

Though Remy was quick to hop on stage, he did appear to be slightly nervous as he was performing. He offered a shy smile to the crowd, and looked for his older sister River in the audience.

River’s support for her younger brother was another sweet part of the performance: She sang and danced along with him during his time onstage.

Clarkson shares her two kids with her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock. The singer and Blackstock divorced in 2022, and Clarkson — together with her children — moved from Los Angeles to New York City.

“I was very unhappy in L.A. and had been for several years. I needed a fresh start,” Clarkson reflected earlier this year, adding that her kids were struggling on the West Coast, too.

Of Clarkson’s two kids, it seems that Remy is the one who gravitates most to the spotlight. He was also his mom’s date at the 2024 Grammy Awards early this year.
