Southern California native, multi-instrumentalist and indie rock, alt-pop worship artist John Allan released “Heaven Secrets.” Available at streaming and digital outlets everywhere via https://johnallan.lnk.to/HeavenSecrets, the new song will be featured on Allan’s Centricity Music debut EP set to premiere Oct. 24. The EP will also feature his widely acclaimed, The Killers-influenced “Living God” and “Keep On Finding More,” an atmospheric, arena-ready duet with Mack Brock.
“Heaven Secrets” is a progressive original Allan co-penned with GRAMMY and Dove Award-winning songwriter Ricky Jackson and Colony House’s Scottie Mills. The song serves as motivation for his fellow sojourners in ministry that are playing the long game, or as Allan poetically describes it, “an outcry to a tired heart.”
“I think the longer you serve in ministry, the more potential you have for scars, and being hurt, but you really have to run with the mindset of a marathon,” he shares. “If you’re trying to sprint through ministry, you’re likely going to get burned out and jaded; and that’s not God’s heart toward His bride.”
In his own service to the local church, Allan shares, “The goal is to be an old man in the house of God some day. That’s my hope for my own life as I get older. I don’t want to lose my chase of God just because I put another year on my life, and I think ‘Heaven Secrets’ embodies this childlike faith of like, ‘Hey, stay low. Stay bowed. Stay chasing God. Drink the water. It’s going to be great.'”
It’s advice he’s personally heeding while stepping into a new professional chapter, wide-eyed with wonder at where music is taking him and as he is featured by career-defining worship and Christian music outlets like Worship Leader Magazine, Loop Community’s WorshipFuel Podcast, PraiseCharts, NewReleaseToday.com, The Christian Beat and numerous others.
Inspired by the sounds of artists like The Killers, The National, Gang of Youths, Bon Iver and Novo Amor, Allan’s music is a creative feast for the senses that fuses both his sonic influences and his genuine love for Jesus. With original tracks that reflect his church-centric upbringing and love of leading worship at his local SoCal church, Allan shares, “God — He’s the fine artist. He is the giver of gifts, but He really is the gift. No matter what I do, it’s secondary to Him.”
