Jelly Roll‘s bromance with Machine Gun Kelly has taken a turn for the … well, trashy.
The country superstar’s Beautifully Broken Tour recently brought him to Ohio, where he saw something unusual: A garbage can, just like the regular rolling carts that people wheel out to the street for trash trucks to pick out — but this one was pink.
Of course, that reminded Jelly of his friend MGK, who loves the color so much that he’s even got a documentary called Machine Gun Kelly’s Life in Pink. Being the devoted friend he is, Jelly immediately decided to track down a pink trash can for his friend, even if it meant he had to steal one.
Jelly documented his journey to try to find a pink trash can, which started with him and his buddies simply driving around Ohio, looking for someone who might sell them one or know where they could get one.
“Oh, there goes a trash dude. Should we just pull up and ask him?” Jelly says at one point in the video.
The trash company worker even recognized Jelly — “Oh my freaking God,” he said when the star rolled down his window — and was able to provide some more information about the pink cans.
“I think they’re for breast cancer,” the worker explained.
Since the trash cans had a charitable component, Jelly decided he was going to buy one fair and square. “We found out they’re for breast cancer, so we have opted not to steal it, and instead try to buy one,” he explained.
“This has become a quest,” he noted.
Finally, Jelly and the guys managed to track down what they were looking for. The end of the video shows them wheeling the prized pink trash can into a garage and FaceTiming MGK to show him his gift.
“So glad we didn’t steal it. That was our last resort. We were really close to stealing one,” Jelly admitted.
“Just like our friendship, this f–king trash can has a f–king story,” Jelly continued once he got MGK on the phone.
“Why is the best gift someone’s ever gotten me a piece of trash?” MGK replied.
A number of companies sell pink trash cans to benefit breast cancer awareness and research, but it appears that the trash can Jelly tracked down came from a company called Garbage Guys Who Care, which serves Mansfield, Ohio.
Much like MGK’s new trash can, his friendship with Jelly Roll has taken a long and winding journey to get where it is today. Long before they got to know one another, the two musicians were feuding. Jelly even once dropped a diss track aimed at MGK.
More recently, they’ve come together, both personally and musically. They released a duet called “Lonely Road” — a reinterpretation of John Denver’s classic, “Take Me Home, Country Roads” — earlier this year, and Jelly’s upcoming Beautifully Broken album includes another MGK duet called “Time of Day.”
