Jeff Deyo, worship leader, author, and former frontman of Sonicflood, has announced that he will be stepping into a new season of ministry as the lead pastor at Trinity Church Waxahachie in Texas, beginning August 1.
After serving over 14 years as a professor at North Central University in Minnesota, Deyo sensed God calling him into a lead pastoral role, a desire he says had been “hidden deep in his heart for some time.” Over the past year, he and his family have been seeking the right opportunity while he served as interim worship pastor at Cedar Valley Church.
The transition came together unexpectedly this spring. “It rarely seems that God moves quickly, but it is true that He often moves suddenly,” Deyo shared, describing how this text from a friend on May 24 led to this next step for their family.
Trinity Church Waxahachie is a campus of Trinity Church Cedar Hill, led by Pastor Jim and Becky Hennesy, leaders Deyo has long admired. As lead pastor, Deyo will preach weekly, lead staff, and shepherd the congregation with the support and resources of the central campus.
“This is a huge change, not only for me, but for our entire family,” Deyo shared, requesting prayer for his family as they prepare to move to Texas.
Deyo expressed gratitude for their years in Minnesota, serving at North Central University, Celebration Church Lakeville, and Cedar Valley Church, and for the many relationships built during their time there.
The Deyos will host an open house and going-away party on Saturday, July 19, from 4-6 PM at Celebration Church in Lakeville, MN, welcoming anyone who would like to say goodbye, share stories, and pray with them before their move.
