Jason Aldean helped one military family create an unforgettable moment during a recent stop on his current Highway Desperado Tour.
Ahead of one show on the tour, Aldean met First Class Petty Officer Blake Darling, who’d just returned home from a deployment — unbeknownst to his family.
Petty Officer Darling was keeping his arrival a secret, in order for his kids to get a special surprise during Aldean’s show.
While onstage, Aldean brought the family onstage with him. “I know your dad is in the military, right,” Aldean tells them, guitar in hand, in video posted to his social media.
“We thought we’d give you a little surprise today, if that’s cool with you guys. Can we do that?” Aldean continued, as the two children, who appear to be about teenage-years, nod in agreement.
From there, Petty Officer Darling walks out from sidestage, enfolding both his kids in a big hug.
“After a 10 month deployment, First Class Petty Officer Blake Darling is back home with his family!” Aldean writes alongside the video. “Thanks to his wife Brittney for letting us be in on the surprise. Welcome home!”
Aldean’s commitment to supporting the U.S. military is well-documented, and his own father and grandfather both served in the military. He frequently celebrates military service members and first responders in his songs.
