George Strait Announces Intimate Texas Flood Benefit Concert

Texas artists like Asleep at the Wheel’s Ray Benson, William Beckmann, Wade Bowen, and Hudson Westbrook are also on the bill, set for July 27 in Boerne, Texas

George Strait has announced an intimate concert event in central Texas to benefit those impacted by the devastating floods in the state.

The country legend and native Texan will take the stage at Boerne, Texas’ indoor arena on July 27 for the “Strait to the Heart” event, which is capped at 1,000 guests due to the venue’s limited capacity.

Strait will be joined by members of his Ace in the Hole Band at the dinner and concert, with William Beckmann, Asleep at the Wheel’s Ray Benson, Wade Bowen, Dean Dillon, Riley Green, Randy Houser, Jamey Johnson, Kyle Park, and Hudson Westbrook among the event’s special guests.

At least 100 people died, including more than two dozen campers and counselors from an all-girls Christian summer camp, in the floods that swept through central Texas over the July 4 weekend.

“The destruction and loss in our community from the recent flood is hard to wrap your head around,” Strait said in a statement.

“Our hearts and prayers are with you all. The goal with this event is to raise meaningful, immediate support that can be put directly into the hands of flood victims without delay, while also honoring the first responders that work tirelessly to save lives.”

Proceeds from the “Strait to the Heart” event will go toward the Vaqueros del Mar Texas Flood Relief Fund and distributed directly to affected families as well as established Hill Country funds; while tickets to the event begin at $1,000, local area first-responder will receive complimentary entry.
