Jelly Roll and contemporary Christian artist Forrest Frank have straightened out their differences.
Frank explained the situation in an Instagram update, saying that he and Jelly had a phone call to talk over their social media scuffle from last week. Now, he assures fans that there’s no bad blood between them.
“We are GOOD,” Frank wrote. “Actually, in my head, we were never not good.”
The heart of the disagreement was about Frank’s faith-based decision to skip awards shows. Jelly challenged it in a social media comment, and publicly wondered how it squared with the fact that Frank profits monetarily from his Christian music.
“I love these questions, and I don’t think we should ever shy away from them as believers,” Frank responded.

In fact, he said, he was “stoked” by Jelly’s comment.
Frank hedged his statement by saying he wasn’t originally planning to publicly respond to the situation but changed his mind after it started getting mainstream media coverage.
Now, he’s shedding some light on how he squares his philosophy of making music “From Jesus for Jesus” with the reality that his songs are financially lucrative.
What Did Forrest Frank Say in His Response to Jelly Roll?
Frank acknowledged that the problem Jelly brings up is a tough one.
In fact, he says, he wrestled with it for years, and it kept him from releasing music at all. But eventually, he started feeling like it was God’s plan for him to share a song called “No Longer Bound,” which he describes as his “quiet time song.”
That song came out in 2017, and Frank says that, except for a few points, it was entirely self-produced and self-written, meaning that he personally received the vast majority of the profits.
“What I do with that money after it legally comes to me, I’m never gonna tell anybody,” Frank continued. “Because your left hand isn’t supposed to know from your right hand.”
He implied that he makes it a habit to give away at least a portion of the proceeds of his songs.
“I might give 90 percent of my money away. I might give 10 percent of my money away. Or somewhere in between,” he said, adding “Or 100 percent” in writing at the bottom of the video.
“Y’all are never gonna know that because that’s my relationship with Jesus. But I love this conversation, and I’m willing to be refined in any area,” the singer said.
He ended his video message with support and positivity for Jelly Roll.
“I’m a safe place for you, bro. Whether that’s on the phone or here on social media. I’m for you, bro,” Frank said. “God is for you. He has a plan for your life.”
What Did Jelly Roll Say to Forrest Frank?
In his original comment, Jelly called Frank’s decision to no longer attend awards shows “an interesting take.” He also said that he loved the singer’s emphasis on making music “From Jesus for Jesus,” and not for worldly recognition.
But he also stressed that Frank makes “MILLIONS of dollars doing that same thing that is From Jesus for Jesus.”
Jelly summed up that same sentiment in a second Instagram comment, adding, “Maybe I’m missing something here lol.”
