‘Facts of Life”s Mindy Cohn Says ‘Greedy’ Co-Star Nixed Reboot

‘Facts of Life”s Mindy Cohn Says ‘Greedy’ Co-Star Nixed Reboot

If you were waiting for the The Facts of Life reboot, don’t hold your breath.

Mindy Cohn, who played main character Natalie Green on the show, revealed that one “greedy b—h” was the reason why a reboot never happened.

During an appearance on SiriusXM’s Jeff Lewis Live show, Cohn explained that several cast-mates were all in on the idea of a revival, after first getting the suggestion from the late screenwriter and producer Norman Lear.

“We had all never really talked about it, but we all started to consider it a little bit and we got into talks and we hired a writer and the four of us got together on Zooms,” Cohn recalled. “This was during COVID, and we had meetings with Norman about it.”

Cohn went on to say, “there was drama,” referring to the discussion of the reboot. She expressed that the drama didn’t come from her, but one of the other three stars who were in those initial Zoom talks.

The disappointed actor stopped short of naming names as she went on describing the reboot fail. “She went behind our backs and tried to make a separate deal for a spinoff just for herself and devastated the rest of us,” Cohn recalls. “…I’m just saying, it was for a 40-year friendship and sisterhood, there was a tidal wave of emotion around it.”

Cohn indicated that she’s been mending bridges with the offending co-star. “We didn’t [speak] for a while and we do now-ish, but…it was an ouch,” she admits.

The Facts of Life was on for nine successful seasons between 1979 and 1988. The series was a spinoff of Diff’rent Strokes that starred Cohn, Lisa Whelchel, Charlotte Rae, Kim Fields, and Nancy McKeon.

Though she didn’t specify which of those cast mates it was that sabotaged the reunion, Cohn did hint that fans could figure it out by going through her social media and seeing who she hasn’t been spending time with lately.

Despite the fact that the co-stars have been healing their relationship, it’s clear that the wound still stings: Cohn reiterated the phrase “greedy b—h” several times throughout the interview.
