If you are using someone else’s Disney+ password, you’d better binge whatever you are behind on soon, because Disney is ready to shut it down. But fear not … you can share a password now, but it is going to cost you.
According to an announcement earlier this week, Disney is now adding a password share option, and it will cost you $6.99 a month. If you would prefer the ad-free route, that will cost you $9.99 a month.
If you are like me and you are already dreaming up a scheme to get the entire neighborhood to chip in and split it 37 ways, I’m disappointed to tell you that Disney is a step ahead. Each account will only allow one other person to share the password. Sorry for all you parents that have multiple kids out of the house sharing.
If you go traveling, it is going to add an extra step for you to stream Disney+ outside of your normal home. If you’re streaming away from your home, you will get a prompt asking you if you moved or if you are traveling. If you select traveling, your account holder will get a one-time code that must be entered in order to access the streaming options.
No word on when the crackdown will begin, but some reports are saying it could happen as soon as this week. Other outlets are wondering if this move could backfire, like it did with Netflix, in the arena of public opinion.
So share away as long as you can … and for you parents with more than one kid out of the house, it’s time to start picking which one is your favorite.
