There is a battle going on as we speak between two neighbors in southern Florida. One couple just wants to be left alone, and another woman who lives next to them wants action to be taken and won’t stop until it is.

Loretta and Leroy Bayliss, of Lauderhill, Florida, just want to be left alone. Instead, they are facing fines and a possible lien on their home. It apparently has been brewing for a hot minute down in hot Florida.

After the grass died in a spot on their property, the Baylisses added pavers and stones, much to the dismay of their next-door neighbor.

It’s not just what it looks like, the neighbor also claims that it was causing a drainage problem at her home. The next-door neighbor went to code enforcement; Loretta was cited because documents say her permit was denied due to the rocks being too close to her neighbor’s property line, which apparently created drainage issues.

Then the Baylisses added crushed up rock and plants to the area. The neighbor then complained that the rocks were getting into her tires.

Arlene Edwards, the neighbor, said, “I have a Mercedes. I took it to Mercedes and they want to know why I have so many rocks.”

Edwards continued to Local 10 News, “When I moved here, the grass was here. It is supposed to be grass. There are not supposed to be rocks and plants.”

Despite making adjustments to appease their neighbor and the city, the Baylisses are facing multiple fines and a lien being placed on their home. It seems as if their neighbor will stop at nothing to make sure they leave their home, whether voluntarily or not.
