We all have that one thing we did in high school, elementary school — or maybe even last week — that we kept from mom. So do your favorite country stars, like Carrie Underwood, Frankie Ballard and Sam Hunt!
For Mother’s Day, Taste of Country caught up with some of the biggest names in music and asked them to spill their secret escapades — to come clean to mom once and for all. These stars did not disappoint.
Ballard makes perhaps one of the most outrageous reveals, noting that he once said he got a scar from a go-kart accident, but that he and some friends actually attempted to brand themselves with their baseball numbers using a wire hanger and a pilot light. Yikes.
Other big secrets include Underwood’s night as a stray dog vigilante, feeding them hot dogs and leading them to families she thought they might get on well with.
“I like, threw hot dogs in their yard and ran away and the dog stayed there. They took it the dog in,” she recalls.
Hunt confesses a mishap from when he was young that includes a broken heirloom, and Cassadee Pope spills the beans about having experimented a bit the last time she was in Colorado. From faked illness to secret parties, the guys from Old Dominion, Charles Kelley, Eric Paslay, Brett Eldredge, Kelsea Ballerini, Jennifer Nettles, Michael Ray all threw in their misdeeds from years past, and there are definitely some memorable ones!
