Chris Young has had a lot of success in country music, but he’ll always give credit where credit is due. During a recent chat with Taste of Country Nights, Young was happy to tip his hat to the women of country music who do it better than the fellas.

Do what, exactly? Hair!

Young used to be known for his crisp cowboy hat, but today he’s more recognizable for his well-slicked, always done-up hairdo. But ask him who has the best hair in country music and he won’t take credit.

“There’s plenty of people I’m sure have better hair,” he tells TOCN host Evan Paul. I did this myself, and basically there’s enough hairspray in here where I could probably run into a wall and not hurt it.”

Young continued to deflect the compliment:

“So, I think there’s plenty of people that I think, a lot of female artists would have something to say when you say ‘Who’s got the best hair in country music?’ They spend a lot more time on it than the dudes.”

Finally, he was willing to accept, though he has his regrets.

“You know what? I’ll take the compliment. Thirty-nine years old, I’ll take the, ‘Hey you got good hair.'”

However, he says: “I wish I had just kept wearing the cowboy hat, then I wouldn’t have to do it [style his hair]. That takes more time than anything for me when I’m getting ready.”
