Checking Himself + Taking a Step Back

Checking Himself + Taking a Step Back

Justin Moore was a guest with me on Taste of Country Nights where I asked him what was the most memorable show that he has ever played in his illustrious career thus far.

Moore couldn’t narrow it down to just one show.

But he did say that anytime he plays a show for the United States Military troops and their families, those are not only among the most memorable, but they also make the singer check himself and take a step back for a moment.

The “The Ones That Didn’t Make it Back Home” singer says, “We’ve done a lot of military bases so you have an opportunity to chat with the families of those overseas serving and hear their stories and that’s always tough for me.”

“I complain about being gone for three or four days from my family and missing a softball game or football game or whatever of my kids, these men and women are going over and spending a year away from their families,” Moore continues.

That’s when Moore admitted that hearing those stories, directly from those who are living it, make him take a step back for a moment.

“Those make me take a step back and go, ‘Wow. I’m very fortunate and I should check myself,'” he says.

How Many Shows Does Justin Moore Play a Year?

Moore has consistently played around 60-70 shows a year for the better part of his career. He mainly plays on the weekend and during the week he coaches multiple teams that his kids play on in Arkansas, where they live.

13 Country Stars Whose Kids We Never See

For every country artist that invites the world to see their kids, there is one who would rather you focus on the back of his head. These 13 country artists are quietly (or in one case, not) private when it comes to their kids. That means very few pictures and short responses if asked about them.
