Brad Paisley Teams With Dawes for New Song ‘Raining Inside’

A month after all-star “I Love L.A.” performance at Grammys, country star and indie-rockers collaborate on new single

A month after linking up on the Grammys stage, Brad Paisley and Dawes team up again on the country star’s new song “Raining Inside.”

Paisley originally wrote the track with Dawes’ Taylor Goldsmith and songwriter Lee Thomas Miller, and originally recorded it with just himself on lead vocals. However, following their show-opening all-star performance of Randy Newman’s “I Love L.A.” at last month’s Grammys, Paisley instead opted to enlist Dawes’ Taylor and Griffin Goldsmith for the studio version released Friday.

Paisley and Dawes — who previously debuted the song together on the Ryman Auditorium stage back in March 2023 — will discuss the collaboration in an Instagram live video scheduled for 2:30 p.m PST Friday.

Dawes’ Goldsmith brothers were among the thousands to recently lose their homes in the wildfires that swept through Los Angeles earlier this year. The Grammys recruited Dawes to coordinate the “I Love L.A.” performance — which also featured St. Vincent, Sheryl Crow, Brittany Howard, and John Legend — with Taylor sending Paisley a text message about participating.

“A friend of mine said afterwards that it was a blade of grass that comes up in a scorched landscape,” Paisley told Rolling Stone after the Grammys. “That text chain with Taylor started out as, ‘Are you guys okay?’ and ended with Taylor texting, ‘Can you believe we did that together?’”

Paisley recently announced his own Truck Still Works World Tour, named after a nostalgic new single that revisits the themes of his 2003 hit “Mud on the Tires.”
