Brad Paisley, MGK to Play at the People’s Choice Country Awards

Brad Paisley and Machine Gun Kelly are joining the performer’s lineup at the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards.

The two stars will both take the stage as part of the awards show broadcast on Thursday (Sept. 26), according to a press release.

The songs they will perform have yet to be announced, but there’s good reason to speculate that both will be performing new music.

Rapper and rock performer MGK has done some significant dabbling in the country genre in recent months: He covered the Chicks‘ “There’s Your Trouble” as part of a special Spotify Singles release earlier this summer, and performed it live in Nashville during the 2024 CMA Fest, too.

Of course, he’s also worked with Jelly Roll: The unlikely duo put out “Lonely Road,” their spin on John Denver‘s classic “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” back in July.

There’s been buzz over whether or not MGK could be the next out-of-genre artist to make a statement in country music, and while he’s yet to confirm or deny any plans for a full album in the genre, he’s certainly making himself at home at events like country music awards shows.

Paisley, on the other hand, has been a mainstay of country music for decades. This week, he’s teasing something special: The singer began teasing new music, first posting a clip of a garage door with a sign across it reading “I’ve Got Some Big News.”

On Monday (Sept. 23), Paisley shared more details, posting a snippet of a song that seems to share some sonic qualities with his 2003 hit “Mud on the Tires.” “Friday,” Paisley wrote in the caption of his post.

It’s possible he’ll be performing that new song at the PCCAs, maybe even with a special guest. Fans have been speculating that Jelly Roll is involved in whatever Paisley’s got up his sleeve, after Paisley shared an Instagram story screenshotting a tweet Jelly posted reading “Did the bank finally come through?”

That question seems to be a nod to a lyric from “Mud on the Tires”: “I’ve got some big news / The bank finally came through / And I’m holdin’ the keys to a brand new Chevrolet.”

Who Is Performing at the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards?

MGK and Paisley join a previously-announced lineup of performers including Miranda Lambert, Kane Brown, Keith Urban, Kelsea Ballerini, Lady A, Parker McCollum and the War and Treaty.

Lambert and Brown are set to receive special awards during the ceremony.
