Are Miranda Lambert + Post Malone Hiding a Secret Collaboration?

Miranda Lambert isn’t one of the many country artists who collaborated with Post Malone for his country album, F-1 Trillion. But that doesn’t mean they haven’t worked together.

On the red carpet before the 2024 VMAs on Wednesday night (Sept. 11), Lambert fielded a question from the Hollywood Reporter about which artists are at the top of her list for future potential collaborations.

Post’s name came up, but the way Lambert spoke about it, a collaboration between the two of them sounded more than hypothetical.

“I’ve gotten to collaborate a little bit with Posty, so I’d like to …” she says before trailing off. “He’s been hanging around Nashville making friends with all of us, which is great.”

She didn’t elaborate further on her musical dealings with the rapper-turned-country-star.

Lambert and Post haven’t ever shared a high-profile stage, though they did both play Stagecoach earlier this year, so it’s not clear whether she’s talking about a live performance, or maybe even a studio collaboration that hasn’t yet seen the light of day.

Check out the moment for yourself in the Hollywood Reporter interview. Post Malone comes up around the one-minute mark.

When Post dropped F-1 Trillion last month, the tracklist was bursting with cameos from big country stars, including Tim McGraw, Blake Shelton, Morgan Wallen, Jelly Roll, Chris Stapleton, Dolly Parton and Lainey Wilson.

It makes sense that Lambert might have been on Post’s wishlist of country artists to feature on the project, so it’s certainly possible that they could’ve gone into the studio together at some point for a collaboration that ultimately didn’t make the tracklist.

On the other hand, Lambert is scheduled to release her Postcards From Texas album on Friday (Sept. 13). That project is deeply centered around her home state, so a feature from Post — a Texas native — could make sense, too. But the full tracklist for Postcards From Texas has already been revealed, and the only feature announced for it is Parker McCollum.

No matter if or when Post and Lambert release a duet, it’s clear that she’s a big supporter of his country pursuits. In a recent interview with Taste of Country Nights, she applauded the way he established himself in Music City.

“Post Malone coming to Nashville and immersing himself in our community that we love so much, and really taking this on, making new friends here and just being as part of Nashville — [it] makes me happy and I think that’s exactly the right way to do it,” Lambert says of Post’s country crossover. “I appreciate it.”
