“Get lost with us,” the duo teased on Instagram
Carín León and Kacey Musgraves sing about a sweet love without borders. On Tuesday, the música mexicana king and country queen shared the cinematic video for their norteño-country collaboration, “Lost in Translation.“
“Get lost with us,” the duo captioned their Instagram post about the video.
Directed by Running Bear’s Alexa Stone and Stephen Kinigopoulos, the video reimagines Musgraves and León’s bilingual love story as they cross paths outside a lively Puerto Vallarta bar. Bathed in vibrant color, the clip follows the pair as they spark a connection — and a romance — over a shot of tequila.
“It’s getting late but I don’t care/Let’s pay the tab and get out of here/Tell me more,” sings Musgraves during the song’s outro. “Say it again/Bet you wanna be my man.”
The Latin-country duo released “Lost in Translation” on Aug. 29 about a love that defeats language barriers. Musgraves and León co-wrote the song alongside Amy Allen and Shane McAnally, with Julian Bunetta and Matt Zara serving as producers.
Musgraves previously said of their collab, “Growing up singing traditional country and western music, I’ve always loved exploring the borders of Country and where it blends with other styles like Norteño and some regional Mexican sounds that I heard a lot of in Texas.”
Musgraves and León said they first met in Nashville, and got to duet to Juan Gabriel and Rocío Dúrcal’s “Fue Un Placer Conocerte.”
“It was a big surprise for me that it was one of my favorite songs … and she knew all the words,” León said.
