Blake Shelton Surprises His Alma Mater With a Touching Donation

Blake Shelton is giving back to the place where it all started for him: His high school.

The country singer recently surprised his alma mater, Ada High School in Ada, Okla., with thousands of dollars worth of musical instruments.

Shelton teamed up with the Music Will organization to give the school guitars drums, amplifiers and other equipment totaling $5,000. He even donated one of his own personal guitars.

The star was on hand at the school to present the instruments and shared with the crowd how lucky he was to have an uncle who invested in his musical interests.

“Once I got a driver’s license, I would drive to their house almost every day and sit around for an hour with his acoustic guitar,” Shelton recounts. “And he taught me just the little bit that he knew.”

Shelton documented the experience in a video shared to social media.

“Now these kids are gonna have the opportunity to do that right here in school,” he explains. “Work with each other and, you know, create a band situation.”
