Brantley Gilbert Sometimes Keeps a Gun on Him Onstage

There are a few dudes in country music who you wouldn’t want to be caught on the wrong side of a back alley with.

Brantley Gilbert fits that bill.

Gilbert stopped by Taste of Country Nights: On Demand recently, and among the music chatter was some gun talk. The country star is known to be an avid gun collector and supporter of the Second Amendment.

Brantley Gilbert Sometimes Performs With a Gun on Him

While explaining how large his gun collection is, Gilbert was asked by show host Evan Paul if he has ever performed with a gun on him.

He has, however …

“I try not to make a habit out of it,” Gilbert admits with a quiet chuckle.

“I have to tuck it back. ‘Cause on the front, you know, I like the appendix carry,” he shares. “It’s easy to get to and most of the training I’ve done is from the appendix carry.”

The “appendix carry” means sporting your weapon on the front of your body, tucked into your pants on the appendix region, hence the name.

The “Bottoms Up” singer went on to explain why he doesn’t carry during concerts very often.

“If you think about it, technically, I mean, what good is it if you’re on stage?” he reasons. “If something happens, you know, the probability is that it’ll be out in front of you.”

“I’ve done it a couple of times when there have been strange situations,” he continues. “Once you get to a certain stage of your career, if you run into problems, I’d say 90 percent of the time it’s because you put yourself in a bad position.”
