As Shania Twain gears up to host the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards live from the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville on Thursday night (Sept. 26), she took some time to chat with Taste of Country Nights about her gig, but also the current state of country music.
One artist Twain wanted to highlight? Miranda Lambert, who’s being awarded the Country Icon Award during the broadcast.
The “Man! I Feel Like a Woman” was full of compliments during her chat with Taste of Country Nights‘ Evan Paul.
“My favorite thing about her is her songwriting ability,” Twain says of Lambert. “She’s just one of our great songwriters today.”

Twain, too, is a songwriter, so she can relate to the “Tin Man” hitmaker in that regard.
“My real me-time is me alone with my guitar. Writing for no reason at all, but just for my own pleasure,” Twain says. “I know that Miranda does that. She’s that kind of girl, so I relate to her and I really appreciate her as a songwriter and what it means to her.”
