Police Dept Faces Instant Backlash For $150K Cybertruck (Pics)

Police departments are funded by federal, state and local governments here in America, but imagine if your local police force used that money to buy an expensive Tesla Cybertruck.

The money to make these police departments run smoothly is taken from everyday working Americans that have taxes taken out of their checks and added to their purchases.

Ever since the beginning, citizens have always had something to say about the behavior and spending habits of said police departments because they feel like they have some skin in the game.

Police Department Faces Instant Backlash For Spending $150K on Tesla Cybertruck

For this story we head to the beautiful city of Irvine, California. The police department there wanted a new and flashy police cruiser to add to their lineup to feature at community events and to use for their D.A.R.E. program.

According to a report by Forbes, the law enforcement unit paid $119,000 for the Cybertruck and then an extra $31,000 for the UP.FIT police-specific modifications, such as special lighting, radio communication system and graphics, plus other mods carried out by Unplugged Performance.

This thing is sweet and something to look at for sure. No doubt if you saw this in your rear view mirror, you would clinch up a little bit and grab the wheel a little tighter.

However, according to CBS News in Los Angeles, the truck will not patrol. Kyle Oldoerp of the Irvine Police Department says it’s meant to be “an extension of our robust community outreach strategy.”

But, as soon as the Irvine Police Department released a teaser of what’s to come, they got side-swiped with negativity from taxpayers.

One user points out that spending taxpayer money so frivolously should be against the law as a whole.

Other X users are clamoring over the idea of actually getting pulled over by the beast, but remember, the truck isn’t meant for patrolling.

Some avid car enthusiasts who know their stuff asked why the department didn’t just wait for the cheaper edition of the Ford that will be arriving soon.

These Country Singers Are Also Licensed Pilots

When it comes to touring, many of our favorite country stars choose to travel by bus or commercial aircraft, while others have the luxury of chartering a private jet. However, there are a select few artists who can fly themselves to their gigs!

A handful of singers have their pilot’s license, and many of them own their own planes, too! Or — in Luke Bryan’s case – a helicopter.
