Brett Eldredge is back in his Christmas era with a brand new original holiday song, “Sweet December,” which features Kelly Clarkson.
The two trade lines in the verses before letting their voices dance in harmony around one another on the chorus.
Eldredge and Clarkson take on the roles of lovers who are looking forward to a holiday season spent together. Even though life can get tough, there’s a peace that surrounds them during this special time of year.
Brett Eldredge’s New Christmas Album Details
“Sweet December” is the first offering from Eldredge’s newly-announced holiday project, Merry Christmas (Welcome to the Family). While it’s not his first Christmas album — he’s become known as Mr. Christmas — it is his first that features all original songs.
“After I finished the Glow Tour last year, I immediately dove into writing an album full of original Christmas songs that will hopefully become classics in your hearts and minds,” Eldredge writes on social media. “We recorded this album trying to encapsulate the classic Christmas sounds I’ve always loved and put my own soulful and jazz-like spin on it.”
“Whatever you want to call it, just know it’s a reflection of the most important themes of the holidays — love, togetherness, family, and community,” he continues. “If you need a place to rest your soul and a group of magical humans to share it with, then just put this album on play, lay back, and take a breath.”
Merry Christmas (Welcome to the Family) will be available on Sept. 27.
Here Are Brett Eldredge’s “Sweet December” Lyrics, feat. Kelly Clarkson
Verse 1:
I need a holiday / I’ve felt so out of place / I find the only truth is in your arms / The world feels upside down / You turn it back around / Through wind and snow you are my Northern Star
Chorus:
Baby, baby turn on the Christmas tree / Take me home and set me free / A blanket’s good, but your love’s even better / Baby, baby put on the classic songs / You make me wanna sing along / Your heart’s good at making me remember / It’s gonna be a sweet December
Verse 2:
The year was long it’s true / But I’m holding onto you / We’re melting by the fire as it pops / The holly fills the air / There’s beauty everywhere / And you lead me to the light don’t ever stop
Repeat Chorus
Bridge:
I follow your footprints in the snow / Your love is what always leads me home
Repeat Chorus
