Ayo Edebiri Fangirls Over Reba McEntire, Melissa Peterman

Ayo Edebiri Fangirls Over Reba McEntire, Melissa Peterman

Ayo Edebiri may be an award-winning actress, but deep down she’s just a fan. She couldn’t keep her cool when she bumped into Reba McEntire and Melissa Peterman at the Emmy Awards on Sunday (Sept. 15)!

The Bear actress was visibly shocked when she realized she was standing in front of the two stars of the early 2000s sitcom Reba.

“Oh my gosh,” she exclaims, throwing her hands over her mouth.

The actress struggles to put a sentence together as she realizes the magnitude of the moment before uttering, “I’m literally … I’m trying to be so normal.”

“I’m shaking,” she adds.

It’s hard to hear the entire exchange between the three actresses, but at one point Peterman must compliment her, because she responds with, “Thank you, that’s very nice.”

“I literally spent so many hours of my life with you,” she confesses before they pose for a photo.

Later during a red carpet interview with Laverne Cox, Edibiri says she was pretty proud of the way she conducted herself.

“I absolutely freaked out when I saw Reba McEntire,” she states plainly. “And I’m really, really proud of myself for not singing the entire theme song.”

“A single mom who works real hard, who loves her kids and never stops,” she playfully sings into the camera.

Edebiri was nominated for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her work in The Bear at the 2024 Emmts. McEntire and Peterman were presenters during the show and chatted about their upcoming sitcom, Happy’s Place, while walking the red carpet.
