They say it’s lonely at the top. However, that doesn’t apply in country music.
Most country stars are big supporters of one another. They’re also kind to each other and like to stay in touch with peers, even though they’re in “competition.”
That’s true for two of the genre’s top players,Miranda Lambert and Morgan Wallen, though Lambert admits it’s actually not easy to get in touch with him.
During a recent chat with Taste of Country Nights: On Demand, she dished on who she thinks should win Entertainer of the Year at the upcoming CMA Awards. Spoiler alert: It’s her buddy Wallen.
They’ve worked together previously, and she considers him a friend, even if she can’t reach the elusive “Last Night” hitmaker.
Why Miranda Lambert Says Texting Morgan Wallen Is Tough
We asked Lambert about getting ahold of Wallen — can she just, like, text him?
“I could, but he probably won’t text back,” she responded with a smile.
She elaborates: “He’s a dude, dudes are terrible. They just won’t!”
Nope, not even for her — and she was willing to try!
“I mean, he might. Want me to text him?” she asks TOCN host Evan Paul, reaching with her phone before realizing she didn’t have it on her.
If she were to text him, she’d probably be like, “‘What’s up?!'” she says, clarifying that he likely wouldn’t be awake to respond.
“It’s early for us kinds,” she says.
Lambert is teeing up a new album, Postcards From Texas, out Friday (Sept. 13), on a new record label, Republic Records. The leadoff single is “Wranglers.”
