High School Student Forced to Remove American Flag From Truck

Getting to drive to high school in your own truck is something a teenager never forgets. Sometimes as teens, we get overly creative with different things on our cars to customize them so we stand out from others.

For one high school student in Oklahoma, the customization of his truck sparked some controversy when he pulled into the parking lot.

Oklahoma High School Student Forced to Remove American Flag From Truck

Edmond North High School senior Caleb Horst said school officials told him on Aug. 21 that it was school practice not to bring flags onto campus.

However, Horst told local news station KOCO that he’s been flying the flag from his truck “for quite a while” without any problems.

Someone saw it on this day, though, and decided it was against the school’s policy.

The Edmond Public Schools officials told Fox News, “It is the practice of Edmond Public Schools to not permit students to fly or bring flags of any kind on our school campuses. This is designed to prevent disruptions and distractions during the school day.”

After other students got wind of what happened, they showed up with American flags on their cars and circled the school in protest.

The superintendent of the school district, Ryan Walters, got word of this and immediately fired off some scathing remarks about a school under his own umbrella.

“No school in Oklahoma should tell students they can’t wave an American flag. We’ve had Americans die for that flag, die for students to have the right to carry the flag, to wave the flag, to be proud of that American flag.”

Walters continued, “My department right now is working on guidelines that we will be issuing to districts to ensure that no student is ever targeted for having an American flag and also that our schools will promote patriotism.”

It seems like this event is going to spark a major change for this school district, and possibly others will follow.

It’s a tricky situation with the First Amendment and schools, but this is certainly not a case of something offensive.

Country Artists Who Are Unrecognizable Without Their Signature Looks

While country artists are most known for their music and the lyrics they write, there are a few who you could pick out of a lineup based on their silhouette. In other words, there are several artist who are known for their sense of style just as much as they are known for their songs.

Take for instance, Lainey Wilson’s bell bottoms. Her vintage western look is not only becoming on her, but it’s also by design. Her one-of-a-kind style was born out of a need to stand out from the crowd and now it’s become a part of who she is.

For others artists, their signature look may be a ball cap or sunglasses. These items are so engrained with an artist that it’s almost uncomfortable to see them without them. But we went there anyway.
