Uh-Oh! Hooters Slapped With Fat $1.7 Million Lawsuit

Everyone goes to Hooters for the wings, right?

For decades, Hooters has been a thriving American staple, known for their amazing bar food, scenery and beer. Hooters is a family restaurant — with a little twist, if you will.

But lately, there have been some Hooters locations that have closed down due to economic reasons, and some bad press from a falling out with Hendrick Motorsports and NASCAR.

And things just got a little spicier for Hooters.

Hooters Hit With $1.7 Million Lawsuit

You probably won’t find Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick sitting down to dine at a Hooters anytime soon. NASCAR‘s Hendrick Motorsports, the owner of the No. 9 Chase Elliot car, isn’t too happy with Hooters right now.

It stems from Hooters’ sponsorship of the No. 9 car earlier this year — the restaurant owed $1.9 million to Hendrick Motorsports for having their name and likeness on the car. But according to Nation’s Restaurant News, the restaurant only made one payment of $45,000.

In July, Hendrick Motorsports had enough of not being paid, and they removed the sponsorship from the No. 9 car completely. They kept it classy, though, stating that, “Due to these unfortunate and unexpected circumstances, and despite extensive efforts on both sides to identify a workable solution, it became necessary for Hendrick Motorsports to end the relationship.”

Now, Hendrick Motorsports is trying to re-coop their remaining balance of $1.7 million. If Hooters doesn’t pay up, who knows how it might tarnish their future with the racing industry?!
