Jason Aldean Calls Out Luke Bryan, Kane Brown Over Football

Jason Aldean Calls Out Luke Bryan, Kane Brown Over Football

Jason Aldean thinks he is better than Kane Brown and Luke Bryan — at least at picking how college football games will go.

With the start of college football right around the corner (Aug. 24), many fans are shifting their focus to the upcoming season. It’s hard to think of college football without thinking about ESPN’s College Gameday — the traveling show has been a part of fans’ Saturday morning routine for more than 30 years!

It has become a tradition for the on-set analysts to give their picks on that day’s matchups, all leading up to Lee Croso picking the winner of the biggest game of the day – usually the team from whose stadium they are broadcasting — using a mascot head.

In 2004, the show welcomed Charles Barkley as a guest before his Auburn Tigers took on the Tennessee Volunteers. That birthed the notion of a “guest picker,” which has become a standard. Comedians, politicians, athletes and, of course, musicians are just a small sample of celebs who have made their way to the desk in the years sense.

So when Aldean — a huge football fan — stopped by Taste of Country Mornings With Wood and Nicole, we asked him about appearing on College Gameday. It was a bit of a sore spot for him.

It turns out, Aldean has never had the chance to appear on College Gameday, even though all of his buddies have been guests, including Brown and Bryan.

Bryan has actually been a guest picker twice – he went 16-6 on his picks – and Brown has appeared once. Of course Bryan was hilarious, cheering on his UGA Bulldogs and championing his gambling prowess.

Should Aldean ever get the chance to make gameday picks on TV, he’ll bring his A-game — better than his friends, even, he says.

College football starts Saturday, Aug. 24 with a few Week 0 matchups. Most teams will start their season the following Saturday, which is also Labor Day weekend.

Wood is host of the Taste of Country Mornings With Wood and Nicole, which can be heard every morning from 6-10AM CT on the Taste of Country app, on local affiliates where available and online at tasteofcountry.com.
