A New Reality TV Show About Cowboys Is Coming

A New Reality TV Show About Cowboys Is Coming

Move over One Tree Hill, the CW Network is going country.

The network has announced a new eight-part docuseries, The Wranglers, which will follow the real lives of professional staff members at the Circle Bar Dude Ranch in Montana.

The Circle Bar Dude Ranch offers guests a chance to experience a real life ranch, riding grounds where real-life cowboys used to live the lives glorified on shows like Yellowstone and 1923 today.

When discussing the show, Head of Programming Heather Olander admitted she knows fans love drama.

“Fans love the drama of the bunkhouse on the scripted hit Yellowstone, and now we’re bringing it to life in this series,” she says.

America has always had a love affair with a Western lifestyle, going all the way back to 1890 when Annie Oakley was first caught on screen. John Wayne and Clint Eastwood would dominate the box office in the 1960s and 1970s with spaghetti Westerns, a style used by Quentin Tarantino when he made Django and The Hateful Eight to much acclaim and box office success.

On the smaller screen Yellowstone, in the words of Lainey Wilson, made country cool again. The Taylor Sheridan show has been nominated for a bevy of awards, including Golden Globes and Emmys over its five season run. It has also spawned numerous spinoffs, such as 1923 and other Yellowstone-adjacent content, for instance the Taste of Country Yellowstone podcast, Dutton Rules.

Time will tell if the unscripted cowboy genre is as popular as the scripted series and movies have been. The Wranglers is set to debut on the CW Network on October 24.

Wood is host of Taste of Country Mornings With Wood and Nicole, which can be heard every morning from 6-10AM CT on the Taste of Country app, on local affiliates where available and online at tasteofcountry.com.
