Ex-Officer Arrested For Insane Crime Involving Vienna Sausages

Nothing beats a small-town scandal. Not quite sure where to even start with this one, to be honest — but the most insane crime just happened, and you should buckle up as this story is weird and twisted for sure.

This all played out in the small town of Jacksboro, Tennessee. Police say that a man named, Joseph Weaver, who is a former Jacksboro Police Department employee, is facing some serious charges.

Weaver is accused of stealing cans of Vienna sausages to vandalize the home of Jimmy Snodgrass, the city’s vice mayor.

Snodgrass, said he woke up around 11PM to several “loud thumps.”

The vice mayor reportedly looked around his house after waking up to find broken windows and “various cans of Vienna sausages lying around his residence.”

Because the sausages were a brand only sold at Walmart, police were able to track Weaver down after speaking to a store employee who recalled throwing out a receipt with a bunch of Vienna sausages. That prompted police to check the store’s security footage.

Apparently, Weaver had gone to Walmart earlier in the day to grab the cans of Vienna Sausages. He had gone through the self-checkout line, and was caught on camera at the Walmart paying for only seven of the 15 cans of Vienna sausages before getting into a black van and heading in the direction of Snodgrass’ home.

It is to be noted that a can of these Vienna Sausages at Walmart are around $.64 each.

So, he added petty larceny to the charge in the swiping of the eight cans of Vienna sausages.

Here’s where it gets even juicier, or plumper, if you will. In viewing the store surveillance from Walmart, police noticed there was someone in the van in the parking lot.

Police were able to track that man down and take his statement.

“[The witness] stated that while eating and drinking numerous alcoholic beverages at the Indian River Marina, [Weaver] was agitated about the incident in which he resigned from his employment at the Jacksboro Police Department,” the report reads.

The report adds that, when others with him asked Weaver why he needed to stop at Walmart after leaving the marina, Weaver only said “it was going to be funny.”

Weaver has admitted to the crimes and has been charged with vandalism and theft.
